Good Morning Music Lovers! Would you like some great new music to fill your ears with? Of course you do, why else would you be here?! Today I would like to introduce you to an up-and-coming Orange County band, Island Apollo. The band is made up of five members: Ryan Kilpatrick (Vocals & Guitar), Matty champagne (Drums), Addam Farmer (Bassist), Heath Farmer (Guitarist), and Austin Farmer (keyboardist). The band has released a new song, a follow-up to their 2015 self titled “Island Apollo” EP. At first listen, I absolutely loved “Hold It Down” and it just kept getting better with time. The mixture of the southern grunge guitar sound and crisp clear vocals gives them a sound all their own, can you dig it?!
I was lucky enough to interview the band and ask a handful of questions so we could get to know them a little better. Their answers even helped me digest their music a little differently knowing their background and musical influences. Check out the interview and their latest song “Hold It Down” below…

In case you didn’t know, May 1st Metric‘s upcoming album Synthetica became available for pre-order! You can pre-order the album in several different ways, Digital, Vinyl, CD, or the coolest way: The Synthetica Stereo Box! We all know what Digital Downloads, Vinyl, and CD’s are so I am going to skip right over that to tell you about this Stereo Box (because it is juts TOO cool!). The Synthetica Stereo Box originated from a Buenos Aires artist Andres Guerberoff. Emily proposed that Andres and the band come together to create a sort of diorama box that also holds music…THUS THE SYNTHETICA STEREO BOX WAS BORN!
Inside the box there will be the Synthetica CD, a 20 pg booklet w/ mirrored mylar insert, 11x3D photographic slides (one for each song), instruction manual. The 20 booklet contains the photos from a group of architects in the 1960’s who came up with dystopian views on how the future would look, these are the photos that also inspired the whole Synthetica Album!
Only 500 have been made and EACH AND EVERY ONE will be numbered and signed by THE BAND THEMSELVES (is it getting a little bit awesome in here or is it just Metric?! lol). The second I found out about this awesome stereo box I bought one immediately, I have to asmit I am MOST excited about the autographs but how freakin’ cool is this box?
Here is a video of Emily Haines describing the Synthetica Stereo Box, and what to expect when you get yours!!
Every time I hear this song I remember wandering around Grant Park (Lollapalooza) and I came to the Google + stage early to see Lissie play. I had nooo idea who the band playing was but they were just finishing up their set and they ended with this song. Funny thing is, the night before I saw them I was hanging out with som friends listening to vinyl and they had mentioned Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr to me and my first thought was “no way I’ll like a band with that kind of name” (thinking it was country or something along those lines). Now I love the band and bought their album “It’s a Corporate World” (buy). Check them out here. And here is a picture I took of them playing in the wooded area!
