Gameshow – Two Door Cinema Club
Put This On Your Radar…You’re Welcome ♫
Hey guys! I wanted to tell you about a band I’ve been listening to a lot lately. They’re called Pacific Air. I am pretty sure I came across their song “float” in one of my many favorite mixes on 8tracks.com and loved the song so much I decided to check out their other songs. This also happened to be a month before Lollapalooza where the band would be playing! Pacific Air is made up of two brothers from California Ryan and Taylor Lawhon. The crazy thing is these guys are AMAZING and they’ve only been an active band less than a year! What’s really impressive is in that almost year they’ve already opened for Passion Pit, Walk the Moon, Two Door Cinema Club, Atlas Genius, Youngblood Hawke, and Ra Ra Riot AND been invited to Lollapalooza, The Governors Ball Music Festival, and SXSW!
I was lucky enough to see Pacific Air last month at Lollapalooza. I decided I wanted to see them just based off of the one song of theirs I had heard and I was completely blown away by how great of a show they put on! (pictures below)
Unfortunately They only have two more shows this year on the books and neither one of them is anywhere near FL *tear*. I am hoping that they will schedule some last minute shows later on in the year *fingers crossed*. Seriously though people, check out this band, I promise it’ll be worth your while. Listen to their album “Stop Talking” below. My favorite tracks (in case you wanted to know) are “Float” “Move” and “Duet in B Minor”.

KEEP CALM!!
You’ve all seen all sorts of different Keep Calm’s right? Well I love when I find the ones that apply to me and my interests. I always save them too so I thought it’d be fun to show you my favorite ones I have come across, and maybe if you have some you’ve made or really love you could share them too?! Here are my favorites:
Undercover Martyn – Two Door Cinema Club
Artist to Check Out – Hoodie Allen
Ok guys, this Jewish rapper from New York, New York rocks my socks and I am hoping he will rock yours too! He is 23 and has been on the scene since 2009. He reminds me a lot of Chiddy Bang and Asher Roth..except he raps solo. From what I have heard so far I think I may like him even better. Just the fact that he remixed a very indie song (I Am Not A Robot by Marina and the Diamonds) sets him apart (Fun Fact: Marina and the Diamonds are signed under the Chop Shop Record Label created by my all time inspiration Alexandra Patsavas!). He said in an interview that “artists like Florence and The Machine, Marina & The Diamonds, Beach House and Yeasayer speak more to me than some more traditional R&B and soul acts”. How awesome! A rapper who prefers Indie Music over Rap and R&B! AND not to mention he has a song named after my favorite stoner actor, James Franco (how great is that?!?) not to be confused with my all time favorite actor Ryan Gosling (swoooooon!). Back to Hoodie Allen, how great is that name btw?!? He has one EP “The Bagels & Beats” and three mixtapes “Making Waves (2009)” “Pep Rally (2010)” and his newest “Leap Year (2011)”. So far I have listened to a little bit of “Leap Year” and most of “Pep Rally”. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I think “Pep Rally” is my favorite…wanna know why?!? Because of all the indie music on it such as: the Black Keys, Death Cab (Eek!), Two Door Cinema Club, Ingrid Michaelson, and Marina & the Diamonds! You crazzzy if you don’t go listen to all of his music right this instant! (posted Pep Rally below). Also click here to head to his site.
