Happy Friday Everyone! I was sent this dreamy new track this morning by new artist Ellie Schmidly. “‘One More Wave’ is about the bittersweetness of beautiful moments in life,” recalls Schmidly. “I sometimes find myself celebrating joyful times only to be interrupted by the fact that the moment will pass. It seems grim, but I think it gives us freedom to find gratitude for something in every season of life.” If that’s not relatable I don’t know what is. Specifically for me, every time I go to a concert or music festival I have the best time but towards the end I realize it will be over and then I get overwhelmed with having to say goodbye to such magical moments and go back to everyday life. Know what I mean? Ellie does ;P.

Island Apollo Interview: Band Holds It Down With Latest Single
Good Morning Music Lovers! Would you like some great new music to fill your ears with? Of course you do, why else would you be here?! Today I would like to introduce you to an up-and-coming Orange County band, Island Apollo. The band is made up of five members: Ryan Kilpatrick (Vocals & Guitar), Matty champagne (Drums), Addam Farmer (Bassist), Heath Farmer (Guitarist), and Austin Farmer (keyboardist). The band has released a new song, a follow-up to their 2015 self titled “Island Apollo” EP. At first listen, I absolutely loved “Hold It Down” and it just kept getting better with time. The mixture of the southern grunge guitar sound and crisp clear vocals gives them a sound all their own, can you dig it?!
I was lucky enough to interview the band and ask a handful of questions so we could get to know them a little better. Their answers even helped me digest their music a little differently knowing their background and musical influences. Check out the interview and their latest song “Hold It Down” below…
Sigrid Debuts With ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ EP Out Today!
Happy Friday Everyone! How about some fresh new music to start off your weekend?! From the first few seconds of 20 year old Norwegian singer Sigrid’s breakout single “Don’t Kill My Vibe” I was immediately on board for whatever she would put out next, no questions asked. Today Sigrid dropped her first EP “Don’t Kill My Vibe” and I have yet to be disappointed. The EP is four tracks long and each one is SO GOOD. The slight raspiness of her voice mixed in with the crystal clear pop(py) beats is exactly what you’ve been looking for. I mean it, turn on ‘Plot Twist’ and try not to dance, I dare you!
Anywho, give her a listen and have a great weekend everyone!
Artist Spotlight: Halfnoise
Allow me to introduce you lovely fellow music lovers to Halfnoise aka Zac Farro, former drummer of the band Paramore. Halfnoise is Farro’s solo project. Now, Halfnoise was started in 2010 so I am a bit late to the game. I’m very happy to have stumbled across his music today. I would describe his sound as indie mixed with dream-pop. Halfnoise’ latest album “Sudden Feeling” is what I really want to share with you. I am not one to put on an album and like every single track from start to finish but with this one, it was a very easy listen and put me in such a great mood. I highly recommend you check it out but for now I will share with you my favorite track from the album, and if you like what you hear check out his website for tour dates and more music. Happy listening!
Phantogram’s New Album ‘Three’ is OUT NOW!
Today is the day everyone! Phantogram are back with new music after a year of making music and touring with Outkast’s Big Boi in their side-project Big Grams. Today the electro-pop duo released their third studio album appropriately named ‘Three’. As exciting as it is to get new music from one of our favorite bands, this album came from a sad place.
Earlier this year vocalist Sarah Barthel’s sister Becky passed away tragically and although band-mate Carter is not related to Barthel, having been friends for most of their life they both feel as though they’ve lost a sister. In interviews Sarah has said that this record “is about heartbreak” and that “the overall message is about how tragic life can be at times—how the world can bring you down… But you have to try to find the beauty in it sometimes.”. This brings to mind the theme of my favorite film ‘American Beauty’ which is that we want to be angry about the bad things that happen to us but it’s hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sidenote: I will take any chance I get to talk about American Beauty (sorry not sorry). Back to Phantogram…

Phantogram and Big Boi Join Forces to Create New Group Big Grams
It feels like it’s been AGES since Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter (aka Phantogram) started teasing that they were working on something with Outkast rapper Big Boi on Instagram in the way of very promising photos with not much to the captions other than “in the works” and “coming soon” (not soon enough Sarah and Josh, not soon enough). Pure torture is what those pictures were. Not only do I love every piece of music Phantogram has delivered to my eardrums, but then there’s Outkast. Oh Outkast, a very important piece of the puzzle that is the soundtrack to my youth..you feel me? (Of course you do).
Dear Jaden Smith, Consider Me Impressed…
Have you guys heard the new music Jaden Smith has put out recently?! Jaden and his sister Willow released a song called “Melancholy” which is him rapping with Willow’s vocals in the background it also has Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” in the backround (love this one). He also put out a track on Souncloud called “Jetskis” produced by AzZi. I love them both and can’t wait for him to put out more! Check out the tracks below and let me know what you think!
