“I’m now a horse without a race, I will gallop where I please.“
I just finished watching a movie on Netflix (which I am beginning to think I might be addicted to….Netflix-aholic?) called Touchy Feely. The movie was ok but what really stood out to me was a scene where Ellen Page’s character goes to see her friend perform. The friend is a real life artist who calls himself Grand Hallway. The song he sang is called “Horses” and it’s absolutely beautiful. Lyrics aren’t often that important to me but I really loved them in this song. And his voice…it’s so…raw, that is how I would describe it but you can listen for yourself…
Is it a blessing or a curse to be found?
Is it a burden or a gift to be bound?
Are you a comma or a dot,
to my run on sentence?
For I was just a word,
that had refused to be defined.
There is freedom when you say,
I am through, I am through.
Room for something to begin,
all anew, all anew.
I’m now a horse without a race,
I will gallop where I please.
With no shame, no hesitation,
I’ll bow down upon my knees.
My lonely days are over,
over.
And love is… Love is,
Love is love, no matter who your thinking of.
So you can open all those doors,
that someone closed so long ago.
Cause your bolder when you say,
I am through, I am through.
Room for something to begin…
