Holy High Rotation! – Oct/Nov 2013

I haven’t done this since last year, mostly because instead of full albums I’ve been listening to a mixture of music from various Spotify playlists. BUT last month and this month too so far I have been listening to these 5 artists more than other so I thought it fitting that I bring back IMHB’s Holy High Rotation!

In 1st place, not just for me but according to the charts everyone else cant get enough of THIS New Zealand native 16 yr old musical genius, LORDE and her debut album Pure Heroine.

Next we have Phantogram. This is not actually an album but an EP to hold us Phantogram fans over until we can get our grubby hands on their next album! This EP is self-titled, and if you haven’t hear the main single “Black Out Days” click HERE and listen right meow! (as embarrassing as it is to admit, the opening beat of this song is so good, it makes me tear up when I hear it!)

Chvrches is a Scottish synthpop band who has become really big really fast. If you’re like me and listen to a TON of (Indie/Alt Rock) satellite radio (Sirius XMU, Alt Nation) you have hear way more than your fair share of this band but are far from growing tired of them. Their debut album “The Bones of What You Believe” came out in September only 2 months ago and I have yet to hear a single track I don’t like. Stream the album HERE.

This next artist (all the way from Scandinavia), Tove Lo has not put out anything but singles which is why I just placed a picture of her up where the album cover would go. Basically my message to you is keep a close eye on this girl and listen to anything and everything she puts out. My current favorite of hers is “Habits“. She also has two other singles out called “Love Balled” and “Out of Mind” and they are both just as amazing!

And last but certainly not least is a band I have posted about in the past, The Royal Concept. I’ve been listening to these guys for a while now and it STILL totally freaks me out how much they sound like Phoenix…it’s almost identical. So obviously I am a BIG fan of anyone that can so closely resemble my favorite frenchies. The Royal Concept however, hail from Stockholm, Sweden. Isn’t it funny how almost all the best Indie bands are from other countries? What is the US doing wrong?! Oh wait, I know….it’s called Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and other mainstream junk (end rant). Anywaysssss The Royal Concept just released their newest EP “Royal”. They also released their debut album “Goldrushed” but before you get excited it is only currently available in Sweden, NOT COOL Royal Concept, not cool (still adore you though)! You can stream the EP HERE to hold you over until the US gets Goldrushed!
